Your choices must be from the classical tradition. Select three different composers, not three pieces from one composer. Discuss the composers, the compositions, and the six basics of melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, timbre, and form. You can refer to “Key Terms†in the course text for detailed information about each of these musical terms. Do NOT give a lengthy biographical sketch of the composer or historical information in general. This essay should be about your listening experience and the music you heard, in your own words. Include links to the videos in your response. My three composers will be Terry Riley, Georgy Ligeti, and Charles Ives. Write your assignment as an essay, with appropriate heading, title, introductory and concluding paragraphs, and body paragraphs, with works cited.
