    unit plan

My lote (language other than english)is Chinese.Develop a unit of work for a particular Senior School year level based on the current Syllabus for the LOTE you teach. This unit of work should reflect your skills in applying theoretical principles to curriculum development. Your unit of work should not be a copy of an existing unit in your prac school, it should be rather something that reflects your own ideas and thinking about communicative language teaching. Please use the template for units of work provided for the overview of the unit content. This will allow the marker to gain a clear picture about the structure of the whole unit. Then write a rationale for your unit of work that should justify your decisions in the light of the QSA syllabus requirements, the relevant literature, the characteristics of the school context and the users for whom you designed the unit. In addition, it is expected that you submit fully prepared assessment sheets with your unit and provide a clear rationale for the suggested assessment procedures

•These two templates are designed for you to download and use for planning and presenting Assignment Two.
•The first is a template for designing a unit of work.
•The second template is for planning and presenting your assessment procedures. Use this template in place of the “assessment sheets”, as they are referred to in the assignment instructions.

•A note on referencing: Add a reference list at the end of the assignment if you have referred to other academic authors (such as Willis & Willis) in the reflective part of the assignment.
•Text-based and online resources that you have taken texts, visuals etc from should be referenced in the box at the top of the unit of work template.
•Note: You can (but you don’t have to) take the topic(s) or theme(s) of your Assignment One texts into your unit of work but don’t base your whole unit on the same texts and tasks as Assignment One (i.e., no double dipping).
UPDATED 19/08/13 AT 12.18 PM. FURTHER GUIDELINES FOR ASSIGNMENT TWO
•Design an in-depth unit of work of 4-6 weeks in length.
•Clarification: You are not designing a work program but a unit of work.
•Assume three lessons per week of 70 minutes each.
    •3 lessons a week x 4 weeks = 12 lessons.
    •3 lessons a week x 6 weeks = 18 lessons.
•Lesson plans and detailed handouts are not required but please do record your sources and references.
•Make a record of URLs or video links and provide a translated transcript of any song lyrics.
•The rationales for both the unit of work and the assessment should be substantial.
    ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES
•Design 2 small assessment tasks per skill, i.e. 8 assessment tasks. NB: These are not end of year tasks but small, unit-based assessments. I have just borrowed the template from the Anglican Church Grammar School work program in an effort to help you
•Feel free to use your own template if you prefer to.
•I suggest you design a mid-unit task and an end-unit task for each skill.
•The tasks can be integrated across the skills, e.g., the listening/reading component in one box, the speaking component in another and the written component in another.
•They could also be 8 separate (i.e. not integrated) tasks but it is both easier and more natural to integrate them.
•I suggest the assessment tasks could be colour-coded or highlighted to show they are integrated, i.e. that they go across the skills.
•Design the descriptors for each standard to fit the task. By all means borrow from the available examples but do not copy word-for-word. Make the descriptors fit the task.
•Use page 2 of the unit of work template to write the rationale for your assessment procedures.
