The critique essays should result in five-page typed, double-spaced evaluations of a reading from our unit on “Toward An Intelligence Beyond Man’s”. Your critique should begin with an introductory paragraph that lays out the general outline of your draft; the introduction should also articulate your thesis statement. The thesis of your essay must be an overall evaluative statement about the assigned text. Your discussion must develop your thesis. You should focus your discussion on (1) an evaluation of the effectiveness of the chosen essay as a piece of writing as well as (2) an evaluation of the chosen essays central argument. Of course, you should wrap up your critique with a concluding paragraph that re-states your thesis and reviews your main points. Obviously, you will be expected to correctly internally cite all ideas you borrow (either paraphrased or quoted). You will also be expected to write a correct MLA Works Cited list. Remember to look in the Credits section of WRAC for original publication information.
