Topic: Construction Documents

    Paper details:
    Discussions 3
.I DO NOT want this in APA format. Its two questions at least 100 words each having a source IF needed. If the source is not needed to answer then don’t put it.
    Threaded Discussion

Throughout the course, you are required to respond to two discussion topics each week; first, in written format of 100+ words for each assigned topic, then to respond to at least two other students postings for each topic. Your writings should maintain the quality of substantive debate or discussion which in turn prompts a response from other students. Short answers, unexplained links, irrelevant discussion and personal attacks are not acceptable.

    Topics:

For WEEK 3, do the required reading, read the lecture notes and watch the linked video(s), and read any web articles that are relevant to the subject. Then respond to the discussion topics.
Note: As a class, we are going to discuss a proposed project from inception to completion. All of the discussion questions relate to the proposed project.

    1. What technical specifications might be required for the fitness center? Designate specialized materials/supplies that will be necessary for each specification.
    2. After the Contract Documents are completed, but before construction begins, the contractor for our fitness center project discusses with the architect that he sees a number of problems with the design of the pool and related facilities. He argues that the location of certain pool equipment will make it very difficult, if not impossible, to install and maintain properly. He also complains that important pool construction materials noted on the design drawings are inferior to those desired by the owner and designated in the specifications. The architect responds to the contractor, “You should stick to your job and leave the designing up to the A/E firm. The owner told us to save money where we can, and that’s what we’re doing.”

What are the issues raised by this conflict between the contractor and the architect? What should each principal contracting party (architect. contractor, owner) do in this situation?

Here is a description of the fitness center that we have been discussing in the previous weeks. The two questions need to be answered using this description. The class is construction documents. The degree is Construction project management.
