Students will write an 8-10 page policy brief based upon the topic identified at the beginning of the term. Problems/topics can be found below in the weekly course schedule.Students will critically analyze and evaluate a criminal justice policy and make an evidence-based recommendation on whether or not the policy should be eliminated.Please keep the following requirements in mind:

Your typewritten paper should be approximately 2,000 words (+/- 500 words); this number includes the title and reference pages. Please include the word count in the title page.
The paper must be double-spaced, with 1.0-inch margins, in Times New Roman, 12-point type size, font.
Your paper must draw from a minimum of 10 sources, which must be cited correctly in the text and be documented correctly in the reference page. Of the total works cited, at least five should be articles from academic journals or books published by an academic press. Works cited and the references must be in APA formats.
You need to write your policy brief in a professional manner. However, you should assume that I lack any knowledge on your topic.
The policy report should include five sections: Abstract (250-300 words only), Introduction, Review of Research and Policies, Conclusion, and Recommendation(s).
Also note that your policy paper is subject to review for text comparison by Turnitin.com, a plagiarism detection service. To submit your paper, you will upload your Word file electronically through a link located on the CCJ 4497 Blackboard by 11:59 pm the day that your paper is due.

The capstone paper will be graded according to a rubric which can be found online.
