The Treasure We Seek

You are right; when we were younger, we definitely got more happiness out of the simple things (which is sad to say because we are not that old today! I’m assuming we’re all on our early 20s). I find it interesting though because reflecting on my values, what I’ve valued hasn’t changed too much; I still put my family first, grades are always important, I keep my friends close, etc., yet I still understand what you’re saying, that people look to material goods as we get older. I wonder what changes that makes us look for physical possession?
“The Treasure We Seek” opens with a popular fable that treats one young man’s search for a treasure that constantly seems to change as he journeys toward it. How do you interpret this treasure that is always somewhat ahead of him? What are Lamoureux and Wadell trying to say about life’s goals and the journey? Discuss the basics for happiness that we discover again in this account.
