The Art Nouveau style was intentionally developed to be applicable across diverse mediums

    OPTION 1

Art Nouveau is a movement that is primarily characterized by style – meaning the approach to line, subject, composition, color, etc. – whereas Symbolism is a movement characterized primarily by mood – meaning the way it suggests and evokes feelings.

Pick an example of Art Nouveau or an example of Symbolism to discuss. It should be an image that was NOT discussed in the module lesson (i.e. something you have found online or in a book)

Talk about how the image you have selected reflects the key characteristics of the artist and art movement with which it is associated.

    Option 2

The Art Nouveau style was intentionally developed to be applicable across diverse mediums.

Have you see the style manifest in your own field of study or could you imagine applying it to your own work?

Feel free to share an example of Art Nouveau influencing work in your own field or to discuss what qualities of the style you might see yourself incorporating in your own work.

    2ND ASSIGNMENT

Most of the earthworks discussed in Module Two are ephemeral in nature, meaning they are transitory and will one day cease to exist. What is your opinion of ephemeral art? Do you agree that art should have a life cycle or aim to last forever? What are some of the pros and cons of this type of artwork?
