For this post, I will be challenging you to apply the reading to your life personally. The first part is rather “easy” in that I simply require that you list your statuses and the roles and duties that are associated with each status. I will be grading you on your ability to answer the question as thoroughly as possible.

As noted above, for the first half of this assignment, please briefly list your statuses. Here I simply want you to identify your Ascribed statuses, Achieved statuses and what you believe is your Master Status. In this same section of your post, for two of your ascribed and achieved statuses identified, please detail in a listing type fashion the roles and subsequent responsibilities associated with each status that you possess.

For instance, one of my achieved statuses is being your instructor. To this end, my roles include teacher, mentor/role model, disciplinarian, entertainer (to a degree) and I’m sure there are a few more too. As for my duties, I am required to actually teach and to ensure that I am prepared to competently do so, to inform to give constructive criticism, to encourage and be caring, to be knowledgeable about student and community resources, to confront negative behavior, to keep my class structured so that it is predictable, safe, and so that the learning environment is positive, to be funny and entertaining so that the subject matter is engaging, to act in a professional manner befitting a college instructor, and to maintain all rules and policies of the college.
