Book: M Yousafzai. (2015). My Name is Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban.
By this time, you have likely written book reports throughout elementary, middle and high school. A college-level book report is different in many ways because it is really a “critical review.”
In high school, your reports likely summarized the story of the book to show you had really read it. I expect that your review will be more sophisticated and complex. I am looking for a critical analysis of the contents. Describe ‘what happened’ but then analyze outcomes using information from class readings, lectures, discussions and homework:
-Why did different characters respond as they did?
-What were the decisions made by different characters/groups? What was the outcome?
-Did you see individuals from populations that are socially marginalized? Suffered from social stigma? What was the role of economic disenfranchisement?
-What about the social determinants of health? What role did they play in the lives of different characters?
-Did health professionals, researchers or social agencies provide patient-centered care? Why or why not? What was the outcome? Who won and who lost?
Limit your paper to 2 typed, single-spaced pages; double space between paragraphs. Use APA-style for writing the paper and listing citations. Be sure to include the citation for your book at the end of the review. Upload the final report to Canvas.
