Religion, Values and Ethics

A 10-minute un-biased oral presentation (acting as a university lecturer giving a presentation to their students) on the beliefs, teachings and practical responses of the Catholic Church in terms of abortion in Australia. Present the sacred texts of Catholicism that relate to the issue of abortion and evaluate how closely these teachings reflect the general community stance on the issue.

Hypothesis: (feel free to come up with a better one) “The contemporary issue of abortion in Australia is prevalent in its widespread ethical debate and is often considered immoral by the Catholic Church.”

    Subjects in presentation must include:

    – An introduction and conclusion

    – How abortion is a current, contemporary issue in Australia (e.g pro life, pro choice debate, asylum seeker forced to PNG for abortion- but must be incident(s) in Australia in the past 10 years.)

    – The Catholic Church’s stance on abortion with doctrines that support this stance + exceptions to the church’s ban on abortion (e.g if it is gravely affecting the mothers health with support)

    – The general stance of Abortion in Australia (e.g laws regarding abortion in Australia, current protests)

Attached is my ‘research book’ with sources that have to be used in the presentation (but you’re not limited to only these sources, if you can find more/better sources then please be my guest – even if you can’t find a spot for one of the sources then that’s fine too). If I could have a link/reference to any extra sources used sent to for later use in the following assignment, that would be appreciated.

Each source has specific notes attached that I thought were significant, attached is also the link to the source if it’s a website for further reading if you wish, but some resources were books so only the notes are available.

The presentation can be fairly casual, not strict about the complete formality of it all as long as it covers the subjects above as this meant to be presented as a ‘casual-ish’ lecture, but does need in-text referencing and 0% plagiarism.
