In my opinion the cause of the economic new imperialism came from competition among the European states. Their desire was to expand national power and prestige. Industrialization was also responsible for the new imperialism. Social Darwinist was responsible for the political new imperialism. The Western nations wanted to impose their theories and laws on others. The Western political and military power were the social forces that drove a new imperialism.
