The course paper will require students to write a 1-page summary of a iournal
article, chosen from a specific list of papers that will be posted on Moodle. Students
will be required to describe, in their own words, the purpose of the experiment(s)
reported in their chosen journal article, as well as the paper’s main findings and its
implications for future research. Students will also be required to use APA citations
for crediting the work of the authors, and any other resources used for writing the
paper. Thus, students are required to attach a reference list at the end of the paper
(extra page permitted for the reference list). The reference list must contain at least
one reference fthe paper used for their paper).
All papers must be uploaded to Moodle by 11:55pm on the day the paper is due. We
will go over these requirements a little later in the course. The list of articles will be
uploaded to Moodle sometime after the second week of classes.
Paper specifics: . The paper is limited to one typewritten page [single-spaced]. Handwritten papers
will not be accepted and will result in a grade of 0. Students will be assessed a
20o/o dedlction for assignments over this limil If papers are over 2-pages in
length, they will not be graded and will result in a grade of 0. . All papers mustuse size 12 Times New Roman or Cambria fonts. Larger

smaller font sizes will result in a20olo deduction.
. Margins must be set to L-inch [2.5acm) all around. Margins that do not conform
to this requirementwill result ina?Oo/o deduction.
. Late papers will be assessed a20o/o deduction for each day the paper is late. This
deduction will apply to papers starting immediately after the Moodle submission
portal closes [e.g., if you submitted the paper at 11:56pm and the Moodle
submission portal closed at 11:55pm, you will receive a20o/o deduction.
. Citations must use APA style. If another style is used, students will receive a 20o/o
deduction. . Note: Exact quotes from an article require students to use quotation marks
around the quoted sentence, and a page number mustbe provided after the
quotation. This is very important, as failure to give credit for one’s sources could
result in plagiarism charges.
