Literature Review
It is recommended that you use the PsychARTICLES index for this assignment. Nursing, medical or non-Psychology
journals will not be accepted and the assignment will receive a zero.
You have already completed a research summary of one empirical article, so you will only need to locate two more
empirical articles for the literature review. You should make all necessary corrections and edits based on the
returned graded copy of your research summary and include that research article as part of the literature review.
However, keep in mind that a literature review is not simply a compilation of three separate research summaries. You
must synthesize the information by organizing the information by topics. See the links at the end of the assignment
for help with writing the literature review.
In addition to the article you already have from the research summary assignment, you must locate two recent primary
(empirical) pieces of research that are both scholarly and peer-reviewed. You should rely heavily on their copy of
the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) for help with the literature review. You
can also find resources online through the Trent University Library (http://www.trentu.ca/library/) and you may email
the Trent University academic skills ( http://www.trentu.ca/academicskills/)

The third link provides an actual student example of a literature review with comments from the professor.

Keep in mind that the example is much longer than the literature review required for this assignment because it
consisted of 5 research articles and only 3 are required for this one.
This literature review should be no more than 5 pages, not including title page and reference page.
