Professional Interview
1. Please identify a local human services professional and contact them to request an interview. It is recommended that you choose a human service provider that is in the field you anticipate entering or have a desire to learn more about. You will be expected to provide your instructors with the contact information for your interviewee (including name, affiliated company, title, phone number and email address.)
I interviewed a Sarah from Necco.

2. Conduct an interview approximately 30-60 minutes long in person or via telephone. Please record the interview using your phone or laptop and submit the recording, or a transcript of the interview, along with your reflection paper. Your professional interview should include, but is not limited to the following questions:
*Discuss and describe how you maintain professional boundaries with individuals within your profession?
*Please identify potential barriers or ethical matters that have or could become present within your position?
*Discuss an incident when you felt that a working relationship was compromised? How were you proactive in addressing this matter? What was the outcome?
*Please describe specific effects which you have witnessed or experienced firsthand regarding multifaceted working relationships?
*What is your approach for addressing confidentiality with clients?
*How do you outline and explain HIPAA to the clients you work with?
*What is your agency’s protocol for addressing limits of confidentiality with clients (i.e., duty to warn)?
*What advice would you provide to me as a professional who is interested in working within the human services field?
In addition to these questions, please include your own professional questions regarding the professional you are interviewing.
3. Upon completing your interview, write a 2-3 page reflective paper. You should save your paper in a word document using 12 size New Times Roman font. This paper MUST include your thoughts regarding the responses to the questions listed above. Also, address the following guiding questions in your paper:
*What did you make of the professionals’ responses to the questions?
*Were you surprised or intrigued by the responses? Or did you expect their responses?
*Elaborate on what you found most informative about the interview and least informative about the interview and why?
Also, please include your list of interview questions as an attachment to your paper and discuss in the body of the paper any references that you made from the textbook when creating your own interview questions.
