Problem Based Solution Paper: Ineffective Communication between Labor and Delivery Nurses and Physicians Regarding Patient Care Management

    Problem based solution paper (40%) Due: Topic selection July 5; Final paper August 14; Practice initial post completed by August 21 at 23:59 EST; peer reviews August 26 at 23:59 EST

    Students will utilize one of the six QSEN categories and KSA to analyze a selected problem in in their current practice that may benefit from an introduction of a solution or a modification to remedy. The goal will be to work on a solution that enhances patient safety, teamwork/ collaboration; information processes, improves quality or improves patient outcomes.

    Part 2: Paper –
    Based upon the findings, students are expected to develop a proposed solution for enhancing or improving the selected problem identified from the practice on their current unit or in their organization. The paper will include support from the literature, as well as, a plan for implementation and evaluation of the changes to improve patient outcomes.
    References should be cited from refereed journals, and include the utilizing of evidence-based articles. The grade will be based on the following: adequacy and rigor of the content, relevance of the selected issue and supporting argument, adherence to APA style, use of references, and professional/scholarly presentation. For specific grading criteria, please refer to the grading rubric. (~10 pages not including title page, abstract, any figures or tables and reference list). Students will demonstrate proficiency in QSEN, KSA and patient safety initiatives. This is a formal APA paper, so please refer to the APA 6th edition book for format and guidelines.
