2. Create an inquiry-based webquest. (Inquiry is one of the hallmarks of teacher education at MBC. As a student in MBC’s program, you should have an especially strong grasp of inquiry-based practice.) If you are currently teaching and have already created a webquest, you may use this opportunity to update it in a way that aligns with best-practice. My biggest piece of advice is start by developing a higher-order, meaningful assessment. Then, build and support around that. Use the webquest and the webpage rubrics found on Blackboard under ? Information?, ?Product Rubrics and Checklists? to informally assess yourself. (Also, use the rubrics as a basis for replying to classmates? posts. LOOK FOR INQUIRY!!!)
3. Paste a working link to your webquest in the discussion response box. (Below it, include your grade level(s) and subject you teach.) Check the box that will launch the link in a new window.
4. List 3 to 5 best-practices that appear in your webquest. Support your claim that they are indeed best-practices. (The rubric supplies on Blackboard and the Webquest folder in the course’s Portaportal offers a good starting point. You’ll also be expected to do a little websearching on your own.)

I am not currently teaching, but created this WebQuest based on a topic that interests me. I chose this particular prompt because WebQuests seem to be a very valuable tool in the classroom. I had never heard of them before. I wanted to learn how to do this to use in the future when I am finally teaching!

Best practices used:

1. Design the WebQuest around an essential understanding, or goal understanding for students (the big picture).

2. Incorporate meaningful activities that require reflection and critical thinking.

3. Design the WebQuest so that students can use their time efficiently.

4. Provide a creative end project.
