Term paper should be around three pages in length (12-pt. font, double spaced). This will be a thesis-defense paper drawing from at least one of the assigned readings. Besides this, the topic or issue covered in the paper is entirely up to the student, but the instructor will offer some suggestions (available in the 1301 Topics link). This is not a book report! Although you will be required to demonstrate that you understand the material that you are covering, the main goal is to use some critical thinking and defend a philosophical position. A handout with guidelines has been made available (see link entitled Guidelines). In this class I have read about Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Descartes and Kant.
