Motivation Letter
In summer 2015 I am going to graduate from the Russian state university of Oil and Gas, Faculty of International Energy Business, so in a few months I will complete my fourth year of the Bachelor degree. I have already successfully completed a number of general courses in Economic Statistics, Financial and Credit systems, Energy markets, Oil Logistics, Geology, Oil & Gas production and others. In the near future I am going to write a diploma work “Oil Terminals of Russia: trends and forecasts”. I am highly interested in commodity and energy trading and this scientific research will be a great experience for me.
Initially, I entered the Higher School of economics, however, during my first two years of study I realized that energy markets are much more interesting for me to observe, as it drives the World economy and plays the key role in human development. That’s why I decided to change my specialization to International Energy Business, where the focus was on oil and gas field, energy management and commodity finance.
A year ago I had a chance to work in Palmali Shipping group of companies as a sailor of Oil cargo tanker, where I gained unique experience in the process of shipping and logistics. After gathering practical knowledge from the inside, I was lucky to get an internship in Port Union Oil Export Ltd. as transportation and logistics manager. This attempt to start a career showed me the importance of advancing in my knowledge and developing professional skills.
My further step for becoming a specialist would be an admission to the Master of Arts program “International trading, commodity finance and shipping” at University of Geneva. I hope that studying for a postgraduate degree at University of Geneva will allow me to combine in the best possible way the quality of professional international education with the knowledge received at the Russian State University of Oil and Gas. Moreover, I truly believe that this period of education will be the best time of my life, spent among interesting, clever and competent people, learning from each other in a warm friendly atmosphere.
Reflecting on my future plans, after two years of studying and working I would like to continue my career in one of International trading companies which would allow me to receive highly skilled practical and theoretical knowledge for solving various arising problems. I will do my best to become an effective manager in the chosen sphere and to develop my skills within it.
In conclusion I must say that I would regard my being admitted to the graduate programme not only as a great honor but more as a high responsibility and obligation of hard work.
I thank you for your attention to my application and appreciate your consideration.
