So my scenario is that one day I was the charge nurse. It happens that a patient went for a procedure known as chest tube. Patient return on the unit and a new staff nurse was taking care of the patient. It happens that Patient seems restless and having difficulty breathing. I Notified MD to come sand assess patient. In the mean time I perform vital signs and o2 saturation. Patient was not breathing well and have a low oxygen saturation. An emergency chest x-ray was done that shows lung punter. A rapid respond was called and patient was transferred to ICU. The new staff just came off orientation and was able to identify the risk that was involved. Using my critical skills and judgement i was able to save the patient life.
