Outside Stress When is Enough Too Much?

Allostatic load is defined as chronic stress causing wear and tear on regulatory systems. Three articles were read, each looking at different aspects of ?outside? stress. Thus this writing assignment is broken down into three (3) parts.

Part One: The article by Repetti, Wang & Saxbe (2009)
looks at the impact of work stress on family dynamics.
Share an experience (either personally or one shared with
you from another) where ones work stress changed the
family dynamics. Based on what you experienced, include in your response something you would advise your family to do differently
(or what you would advise a family presenting to you for
help with a similar situation, to do differently).

Part Two: The article by Aldwin, Yancura, & Boeninger (2007) looks at the aging process and coping skills used in response to external stress over one?s lifetime. For this part of the writing assignment, I want you to expand on ONE aspect Aldwin, Yancura, & Boeninger addressed in their article. Include personal experiences and/or material from the textbook or other resources to support (or refute) the section from the Aldwin, Yancura, & Boeninger article you chose to write about.

Part Three: The article by Davis & Nolen-Hoeksema (2009) summarizes three psychodynamic perspectives on how one copes (or grows) following significant life events having taken place. Identify the approach referenced in the Davis & Nolen-Hoeksema article that you feel makes the best sense for you. Make sure to show evidence of deep thought in your response (meaning more than ?I agree? and re-writing what was printed in the article).
