    Question
How can your mental models about your world both assist and limit your perceptions when you meet a person for the first time?

To achieve a pass you must answer the set question. Essays which are a disjointed conglomeration of information on the topic or that do not show the relevance of the student?s information to answering the set question will not pass.
Answer the question in your own words. Use direct quotes very sparingly and only to illustrate a point that you have already explained in your own words. Some students try to hide their lack of understanding by using direct quotes and others fill up their word allowance with direct quotes. When you can explain a concept in your own words the marker knows that you have understood the concept. A good test of your comprehension is to pretend that you are a teacher explaining a new idea to students who have never heard the idea before. You will find that you will have to use your own words to teach.
Comprehend your textbook, lecture notes, tutorial exercises and unit materials before you read further. It is quite normal and expected to read an article at least three times for full comprehension. This takes time and markers can easily see the students who have planned their study time and put in the effort.
Always write at least two drafts. On the second draft you will find yourself developing your ideas and the structure of your points into a coherent whole.
