Oral History Report

*(subject area should be Asian American studies)
Topic: Interview a person of Asian descent older than 65 (the person should be a 3rd generation Chinese
American)and a 3-page reflection and analysis paper. We will develop interview questions in class and cover best
    interviewing strategies.

    Here are my interview questions:
1)How do you identify racially and culturally? If you identify as Chinese American, could you explain what that
means to you and give examples of what makes you Chinese American?

2)What are some challenges and also advantages of being Chinese American?

    3) What are some differences between your experiences growing up as third generation compared to your parents as
2nd gen and your grandparents as 3rd?

4)Would you ever consider living in or moving permanently to China? Why or why not?

    5) Would you want your children, the next generation, to keep living in the United States? Why or why not?

I hope you can help me to focus in the 3-page Summary/Reflection/Analysis paper based on the interview questions.
My goal is to summerise the interesting and main points of this person’s story, what did I learn from this person,
how is this person’s story related to some of what I have learned(SEE SOURCES) in class so far.
In fact I’m not going to do the interview. So I hope that you can firstly answer the interview questions by acting
like a 3rd generation Chinese American, and then help me to write the 3-page analysis paper.

Also, I hope that you can related some quotes from the following sources:
? Takaki, Ronald. Strangers from a Different Shore: A History of Asian Americans
? Paik Lee, Mary. Quiet Odyssey: A Pioneer Korean Woman in America
