    NGN 497Final Report Guidelines
    The purpose of the Final Report is to document the entire work experience in sufficient details to allow for evaluation of the quality of your experience and the achievement of the overall program objectives. These objectives are that the student will be able to:
    – Work in teams of diverse academic and industrial backgrounds and interact with professionals outside the academic environment.
    – Practice project/time management skills.
    – Comply with rules and regulations governing real-life engineering workplace
    – Apply professional and engineering skills and knowledge in solving real-life problems.
    – Integrate safety, health and environmental considerations into engineering design.
    – Recognize ethical and moral issues and codes related to the engineering profession.
    – Practice self-directed study and life-long learning to pursue new concepts and to have knowledge of contemporary issues.

    To this end, thestudentshould incorporate the following items into the final report.
    1. Goals and Objectives:List and describe the goals and objectives set forward by your employer or set by yourself.
    2. Projects: List and describe the project or projects you participated in during your internship. Please include:
    a. The duration of the project.
    b. If the project was individual or as part of the team (and how large).
    c. Any customers, vendors, specialists, or agencies with which you had to interact.
    d. The deliverable products of the project (report, memo, presentation, drawing, calculation, etc). Whenever allowed by confidentiality, include a sample of the work.
    3. Company Organization: Describe your understanding of your employers’ organization structure, management style and culture. This can be the entire organization, the corporate division or the section or branch with which you worked.
    4. Learning Experiences:Detail any skills you have developed, knowledge you have gained or lessons you have learned.
    5. Suggestions: Provide suggestions for how the internship program itself could be improved or modified to make the experience more useful and meaningful.
    6. Personal Reflections: Any relevant things you have learned about the work place and how your personal characteristics (such as time management, interpersonal skills, writing ability, etc) have aided you during your internship or could be improved to make you more effective.
    The final report is due at the end of the 2nd week of the following semester, or two weeks after the completion of the internship if the student is not returning to campus the following semester. The report should be submitted on-line using iLearn. By the end of the 4th week of the following semester, the student will also make a short presentation of approximately 20 minutes to a committee of the College Internship Coordinator, a Faculty Evaluator from the student’s program and, when possible, the Industry Mentor.
