    This is an individual assignment.
    Objective
    To be carry out experiments on a sample NLP task and present a scientific analysis of the results as a scientific paper.
    Task Specification
    Choose one of the following topics from the Lingpipe tutorial at:
    http://alias-i.com/lingpipe/demos/tutorial/read-me.html
    The list of topics are:
    • Sentiment Analysis
    • Classification

    For the experiment, you should use the sample dataset given in the tutorial and do the example task described in the chosen tutorial.
    Write a scientific report with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 page report (excluding the bibliography) describing the results of your experiment.
    You are not required to have a table of contents or executive summary for this report.
    You should format the paper according to the Lecture Notes in Computer Science specification. You can either use the Latex or the Word template to write your paper. Both are available on AutOnline together with this assignment. You have also been provided a working latex template and paper as an example.
    Your paper should contain at least the following sections:
    • Abstract
    • Introduction
    • Data Description
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
    • Bibliography.

    The actual content of the report will vary somewhat, however as a guide your report should contain the following.
    • A description of the experiment being conducted.
    • A review of the previous works in the same area.

    • A description of the data used.
    • An analysis of the results obtained.
    • A discussion/evaluation of the results, possibly in relation to other similar previous works.
    • Conclusion and usefulness of the results.

    Assessment
    This assignment contributes 40% towards your course grade.
