Moral Theory
Compare and contrast the theories advanced by Mill and Kant by applying them to a specific situation. The key here is not to know what they actually thought about this sort of case, but to demonstrate understanding of the theory by using it.
So for example, if you were to write about Capital Punishment, but would utilitarianism view this issue? How would a duty-based approach? Could they agree that Capital Punishment was just or unjust in certain cases? Would they provide the same arguments??
Your paper should be just a couple of pages, should include brief quoted passages from the texts to illustrate your interpretation of the theory, (the principle of utility, the categorical imperative seem like must-haves for a paper like this)
And most importantly, you should take the theories and show how they work to deliver answers to moral questions.
Be sure to argue for the approach you think works best, or which best captures the issues as you see them.
