    Influencing Proposal
    Instructions:
    • Consider a change you would like to see made within an organization you are familiar with (i.e., healthier choices in the cafeteria; two work-groups working better together; faster turn-around on development projects; reduced absenteeism).
    • Write an “influencing” proposal:
    a) Clearly and specifically define the change – why it is needed and expected outcomes.
    b) Identify 2-3 VITAL behaviors. Use tools to identify the VITAL behavior such as: Study the Best; Positive Deviance; and, Recovery Behaviors.
    • 1-2 pages, single-spaced, 12-pt font or smaller, one inch margins.
    • Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation is necessary. Avoid the use of idioms and colloquialisms.

    10 pts Clearly identifies and describes an appropriate organizational change. Suggests a change project that is not clearly an organizational change. Does not identify or describe the change.
    25 pts Provides a well-articulated description of why the change is needed AND a specific, measurable expected outcome. Meets one of the two criteria – why or outcomes. Discussion is vague, confused or too brief. No discussion
    40 pts Identifies 2-3 BEHAVIORS and a rationale for why they are VITAL to the outcome. Discusses which tools were used to identify the vital behavior. Meets two of the three criteria: behaviors; rationale; and, tools used. Meets one of the three criteria: behaviors; rationale; and, tools used.

    Discussion is vague, confused or too brief. No discussion
    Up to five points deducted for poor grammar, spelling, punctuation or inappropriate use of idioms or colloquialisms.
