Modern Boston History Class- Writing A Short Discussion Post

    You will pretend to be a reformer who lives in Boston in the 1890s who is submitting a piece to be published as an op-ed in The Bostonians. Your piece should advocate for a specific reform, and should be your usual 500-750 words in length. You may choose to write as any person, fictional or real, man or woman, old or young, educated or not, and of whatever ethnicity and religion that you desire, but it has to be credible (i.e., you cannot be an uneducated Irishmen who studied at Harvard). You can choose any reform that you would like to promote as long as it is credible for Boston in the 1890s. 

    Your piece should be written in the 19th century style (read the two pieces in The Bostonians to see the style used at the time).
