managing transition from clinicals to preceptorship

please refer only to Bridge’s professional socialization model.

After I finished my 4 clinical rotations I was placed in ICU for my preceptorship.
1st phase “letting go” :In the first few days I was stressed, I was scared not to do anything wrong and it was totally different than what I saw during my clinicals.
2nd phase “the neutral zone”: I was more confident caring for my patients but I was still feeling lost and I didn’t know what to ask my preceptor and how to act in certain situations.
final phase ” new beginning”: I was able to care for my patience on my own. After morning report I was able to explain to my nurse preceptor what I am going to do for my patients, describe the diagnosis, the medications that they are taking and why and what’s the worse can happen and what should I do. I was able to ask appropriate questions, practice delegation with my preceptor, administer the medication on time and safely.
