Overview: Choose a news article about a public company?s (corporation) recent business decision.
Recent means since the beginning of the semester. Classify the business decision into one of the
issues listed below. Using ratios in Chapter 13 of your text, find financial indicators that may have
led the company to make the decision.
Your score will be based on content of your analysis and submission to the D2l Drop Box.

Step one: Find a news article about a public company that has recently made a business
management decision. Articles may be found on the internet or from publications in the library.
(Hint: Choose a publicly traded corporation as the financial statement information you will need to
complete your analysis is usually available on the internet.)
Step two: Classify your business management decision article into one of the following business
issues:

In your analysis describe the factors in the article that caused you to choose the above business
issue.
Step three: Obtain financial statements of the company in your news article.
Choose five ratios in Chapter 13 (or other commonly used ratios) that will help explain why the
company made that business decision. Calculate ratios from the company?s financial statements. Show
calculations in your analysis. Identify financial indicators that may explain the company?s decision
making. Comment on the ratios and look for clues as to why the decision was made.
