    This assessment activity is designed to gather evidence of your competence
    in regard to the elements and performance criteria in the module
    BSBLED501A Develop a workplace learning environment.
    Specifically, you must provide evidence that you are competent to:
    ? Develop methods for reviewing performance development needs, and techniques for providing feedback on those needs
    ? Develop models for professional development
    ? Discover options available for professional development
    ? Have knowledge of relationship management required to achieve a learning environment
    There are two tasks to be completed for assessment:
    ? Part 1 Short answer questions
    ? Part 2 Comprising three tasks (training needs analysis, learning plan
    and short report)
    The completed assessment activity should be emailed to your
    trainer for assessment.
    Resources:
    The following resources are suggested to assist you to gain the skills and knowledge required in this unit.
    ? Management, theory and practice 4th edition by Kris Cole-
    Chapter 26 – page 912 – Encouraging a learning environment
    and developing employees
    ? You should use the Internet to search for relevant publications
    including journals and electronic books.

    Part 1 Short answer questions
    Instructions:
    Part one includes 9 short answer questions. The length of individual responses will vary;
    however, you should provide sufficient to demonstrate to your assessor that you are
    competent to develop strategies to facilitate and promote learning, and to monitor and improve learning performance.
    You may base your response on your current workplace or another organisation that you
    are familiar with. Remember that you may contact your trainer/supervisor to clarify any
    aspect of the assessment activity.

    Part 2 Planning and implementing learning activities
    Instructions:
    You are to select an organisation (or a section or department of an organisation) you
    are familiar with and consider how you would lead the development of a workplace learning environment.
    You will begin by conducting a training needs analysis to identify the learning needs
    of individuals in the workplace.
    You will prepare a learning plan that describes the various formal and informal
    learning opportunities that address the learning needs identified on the
    Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
    Finally, you will use feedback to monitor and improve learning effectiveness.
    Task 1 – Training Needs Analysis
    Undertake a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) using the form or template that is used
    in your workplace for this purpose or the form available from the
    Origin HR Online Learning System.(Relevant pages are 933 and 934. Check out the example on page 936)
    Task 2 – Learning Plan
    Prepare a learning plan that addresses the individual learning needs identified on
    the TNA. You may use the learning plan format implemented in your workplace
    or the form available from the Origin HR Online Learning System.(See page 953)
    It is important that you complete each of the following sections to ensure that you
    provide quality evidence of your competence for this module.
    ? Describe formal and informal learning opportunities (this could include coaching, mentoring, job rotation, online or blended learning, formal training courses,
    on-the-job training, in-house training)
    ? Outline the various workplace policies and procedures that are relevant to the
    plan (for example, access and equity, support of employees with language, literacy
    and numeracy issues, study leave and assistance with the costs of training)
    ? Identify the parties responsible for delivering training and development
    (including specialists and Registered Training Organisations)
    ? Summarise the records and reports that will be completed as evidence the training and development has been undertaken
    Task 3 – Short report
    Write a short report that explains how you will monitor and improve learning effectiveness. You will need to discuss how you will gather feedback following learning
    and development and how you would use this information to improve training and development activities. You should also describe how you would recognise workplace achievement (this could include awards, certificates or celebrations).
    Your report should be in a format that would be appropriate to present to your
    senior manager or the Human Resources Manager in your workplace. Your
    trainer/assessor will be able to give you information regarding the presentation of
    business reports if necessary.( Check out page 955 as a starting point)
    You can expect that your completed report will include approximately 1000-1500 words.

    to email them to your assessor.
