Identify the specific health education need that will be the focus of your proposed health education program and describe why this program is needed, it’s urgency and potential impact

The goal of this course is to gain a thorough familiarity with your role as a health educator. Draw from your knowledge and understanding of health promotion, health behavior theory or models and identify a need for health education, planning and implementing a health education program. It would be best if your selected program has ‘real world’ relevance and the need for its implementation is CURRENTLY urgent.

As evidence of progress on your final assignment, submit a paper that contains the following:

•Identify the specific health education need that will be the focus of your proposed health education program and describe why this program is needed, it’s urgency and potential impact. Should your proposed topic/program be unacceptable, you will be notified and asked to pick a different topic/program. **PLEASE DO NOT PICK OVERWEIGHT/OBESITY PREVENTION/REDUCTION OR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROMOTION IN ANY POPULATION AS YOUR TOPIC.**
•Identify the setting in which your proposed health education program will be implemented and explain the reason for your choice. Your choices are: school, community, worksite, or health care setting.
•Identify sources of health related information you will use for the purposes of identifying a particular need. Please be specific about this information (i.e. do not indicate that you will use the internet and/or Proquest; identify which websites and/or articles you will use).
Please note that your final paper (submitted in module 5) should include at least 25 peer-reviewed articles as references for your topic. Demonstrate an ability to critique scholarly research by extensive use of pubmed/proquest. Also note that your final paper should be between 8-12 pages (not including references); please follow page guidelines carefully.

    Please read before completing assignments.

•Assignment should be approximately 2-3 pages in length (double-spaced).
•Please use major sections corresponding to the major points of the assignment, and where appropriate use sub-sections (with headings).
•Remember to write in a Scientific manner (try to avoid using the first person except when describing a relevant personal experience).
•Quoted material should not exceed 10% of the total paper (since the focus of these assignments is on independent thinking and critical analysis). Use your own words and build on the ideas of others.
•When material is copied verbatim from external sources, it MUST be properly cited. This means that material copied verbatim must be enclosed in quotes and the reference should be cited either within the text or with a footnote.
•Use of peer-reviewed articles is required. Websites as references should be minimal.
