    identify two cross-cultural issues which could arise in some of the life of person professionally involved in education. for each :
    explain carefully what the cross-cultural issue/problem is

    analyse carefully the cross-cultural aspects of the issue/problem in these aspects : cultures and sub-cultures(eg school culture), contrasting practices between them, internalised culture , tension between individuals , forms of IC (intercultural competence ) shown/not shown/needed by individuals.

    i will give you 2 case studies and you have to write 2000 for each.here are cases :
    1 : you are teaching English in Cyprus in a private institute using a variety of communicative and task-based methods.some of students are from EU and others are from Africa.students tend to arrive and seat themselves in cultural/gender groups and a number of african women either seem uncomfortable about doing pair work with a man or dont engage with it when they are put in mixed sex pairs.how do you manage this group in such a way as to maximise the use of English in class, giving students the varied challenge of working with a cultural variety of partners, whilst not alienating members of the group ?

     
    2 : . An Iranian teacher does an MA TESOL in London and becomes very familiar with communicative and Taske-based methodologies.On returning to teach in Iran he finds that teacher/student relationship he thinks is necessary to work with student using these methodologies is different from the dominant norm in Iran. the school he is working in is fairly accepting of some of the methods he wishes to use but don’t encourage a more informal relationship with students than is normal in this school.how does this teacher combine the sort of teacher/student relationship he thinks is needed to teach communicatively with expectations of the school students and their parents?
