Art Modern society is confronted with multiple problems on multiple fronts
e.g. social, economic, political, environmental. But, before we can begin to solve these problems, we must understand them. Both scientists and artists teach us to be more aware of these problems, and they both provide us with different ways of thinking about them. Think of the analogy of a doctor who is faced with the task of correctly diagnosing a set of symptoms before she is able to treat them properly.

Using ML King Jr’s methodology of the Miner?s canary, as discussed by Lani Guenier in the handout ?Do Artists & Intellectuals Have A Responsibility to History??, provide at least three different examples of an Artist?s work that reflects what you feel to be an accurate diagnosis of the ills of Modern society. How do these artists and their work help us to become more aware and active with regard to the future?
