Case Study Analysis – (40% made up of 25% report and 15% presentation) ¬
The first assessment in this subject will be a 2500 word assignment which will be provided to students within 4 weeks of the due date.
The case study requires you to analyse the attached South West Airlines paper and answer the following questions:
How did South West create a competitive advantage for itself?
Do you believe the HE work of South West’s management is sustainable in the long run?
What are some of the shortcomings of the South West Model?

To answer these questions you will need to study the paper and seek further details from the literature. You will need to use at least 10 references in your work and apply HRM theories to your analysis.
The written component of the report is worth 25% of the final mark.
The presentation for this assessment will take place in week 9 and will include a 10 slide summary of your work. The presentation is individual and needs to be completed in 10 minutes with a question and answer component at the end.
You will be assessed on the quality of your presentation and your arguments as well as the depth of your assignment research.
