For this essay please look at the time period defined as the middle ages. It is essential that there is a good mixture of direct quotes, facts and figures and primary sources such as letters or documents used throughout this essay, helping to demonstrate the role each religious order played within medieval society and their importance. Intro – Briefly introduce the role of religion throughout the middles ages, give examples: the crusades plus others, how did people organise themselves into religious groups? give examples of religious orders, mention the Knights Templar, Benedictines, Francisicans and Cistercians.
