Write an essay on the history of elections in the US that includes the timelines that are relevant to elections that imposed potential barriers that “disenfranchised” groups of potential voters and how the federal courts have ruled respecting elections and/or rules that might impose barriers to voting as well as actions of the US Congress to address those situations. Additionally you will need to include the most recent rulings as it pertains to new voter laws to include the Texas Voter ID law and the significance of those ruling by the various circuit courts.  You will also need to identify any US Constitutional rights that might have been violated by the state/s that contributed to the federal government intervening in a states reserved power.  Terms that I will be looking for in the essay, include but are not limited to the Nineteenth Amendment, suffrage, poll tax, white primary, motor voter law, early voting, early registration, reapportionment, redistricting, gerrymandering, Jim Crow Laws, Voting Rights Act of 1965, preclearance.  Include in your essay how the voter ID law in Texas impacted Jim Wright and why it shed a national spot light on the Voter ID law.
