History

It is June 1929. You are a congressional staffer who has been asked to write an informational report on the history of American society in the past 60 years. The Senator, your boss, wants to understand why Americans are so divided socially, why the U.S. appears headed toward social and financial chaos, and why politics have become so intensely divisive. In your report, you must explain how and why Americans – all residents of the same nation – have become so dissimilar. Additionally, explain what role has government played in these social divisions and what measures you recommend that our government take in order to make the U.S. a more equal and “perfect” union that provides equal opportunities to all.

    Guidelines:
    1. Your paper must have an identifiable thesis statement (underlined) in the first paragraph.
    2. You must include evidence (i.e., specific examples) to support your thesis statement.
    3. You must cite your sources (using endnotes or footnotes in Chicago style). For help in
formatting your citations, see the Purdue Online Writing Lab (Purdue OWL) page here:

    4. You do not need to include a bibliography.
    5. Please limit your sources to the text and other assigned readings.
    6. Please list the word count at the end of your essay
