    Case study for assignment 1
    Jo 40yrs
    Robert 43yrs
    Oliver 19yrs

Jo has been married to Robert for 20yrs. They live with their son Oliver who has a severe learning disability. Robert has his own successful business. Jo has not worked since Oliver was born, preferring to stay at home to care for Oliver full time. Oliver attends college and enjoys pop music, likes fashionable clothes, and attends a local leisure centre 3 times a week where he works out in the gym. His asthma sometimes inhibits his exercise. As his carer, Jo drives him to and from places which Oliver depends on as he has few friends. Jo tends not to ask for help; she sees it as her job to help Oliver 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Sometimes this leads to conflict with Robert who states that he would like to spend time socially with her. He plays golf regularly and goes to the pub at the weekend. Recently Oliver has become annoyed with Jo – he has hit her. Jo realises that he has a learning disability, and makes some allowance for this. She is learning to watch for signs that Oliver is becoming irritated with her. Jo has few friends and is a quiet person. She enjoys cooking but rarely has time to indulge this. She rarely has time for exercise.
