Group Process Analysis
A brief professional narrative statement to clarify type and/or goals of group, number of clients, frequency of meeting schedule, and any other introductory material that can set the stage for a clear understanding of your group
Narrative statements, with supportive evidence (e.g., examples) from group sessions, for each client to clarify:
1. Identity of client (initials, gender)
2. Total number of sessions attended
3. Total number of absences, in what phase of group therapy
4. Major themes expressed by the client
5. Changes in client?s interaction with other group members over time; maintenance and task functioning manifested (summarize Role Checklist)
6. Changes in self-image and defense mechanisms or coping strategies; solved and unsolved problems by the end of group; client?s central conflicts noted
7. Reactions to treatment (other group members and facilitator); Amount of insight attained and ability to apply it
8. Recommendations for further treatment
1. Examine total number of sessions, group response, with evaluation, then, of whether or not sufficient for program purpose and goals
2. Attendance: What was the ?normal? size of the group; discuss changes in size of the group and effectiveness of how these attendance differences were addressed and managed by you
3. What were the major themes discussed by the group, and how did these relate to interactions among group members?
4. Identify each stage of group development experienced by your group. Give an example of each.
5. Solved and unsolved problems encountered as facilitator with group or particular group members
6. Discuss how well your program goals were met (Relate to each program goal)
7. Describe any transferences that occurred and any facilitator countertransference ? How were these handled?
8. What would you do differently as a facilitator if you conducted another group?
9. Describe perceived learning from conducting your group and describe stage of development of particular group facilitator skills (Summarize Leader Checklist); discuss further learning needs as ascertained through engaging in group facilitator role.
