The argument of your essay should be well developed and thoroughly grounded in textual details. You should support your observations, assertions, and overall interpretation with sufficient and pertinent quotations, paraphrases and summaries. Please remember to introduce and to contextualize your quotations.
Essay Topic: Group or collective identity, “race” and nation/nationhood in Ivanhoe: Saxons, Normans, Jews as well as ideas of England and Englishness. Please do not use outside sources, just the book “Ivanhoe” written by Walter Scott. Your essay should be in twelve-point font and should be uniformly double spaced. Pages should be numbered in the upper right hand corner of each page (with the exception of the first page, numbered at the centre bottom). The essay must have a Works Cited page and an interesting and informative title indicating the work studied and suggesting the nature of your thesis, your focus, your perspective or your approach.
