    First generation Asian immigrants, like all other immigrant first-generations (first arrivals), thought and acted conservatively – avoiding confrontation and conflict with people outside their own communities, especially the greater white society. Yet some post-WW II first-generation and more second-generation Asian American youth joined in the Civil Rights and Peace Movements.
