Essay Assignment 1: Personal Argument For this assignment you will be required to compose an introduction paragraph which will serve as a draft. Make sure you attach in Word an introduction to an email using your lionmail account so you can open the document at your draft conference. When we meet during your assigned time on 27 September you will use the class computer to access your email so I can give you feedback on your introduction. For this assignment choose an issue that you feel strongly about or an issue that is important to you. Write a 3 to 5 page essay with a thesis statement arguing for a particular way to think about the issue. Remember: an argument is a claim with support. Your thesis statement should be the last sentence of your introduction. This should contain your claim. Your support should be ideas you discuss in the body. The conclusion could be an emotional appeal to your audience further supporting your claim. Make sure your essay is formatted properly. The due date for the final draft is 4 October at 5:00pm.
