1) You are the Incident Commander (IC) at a HAZMAT spill. Discuss the basic geographical considerations that you will take into account when determining how to set up the site, the command center, and the hot/warm/cold zones. Be sure to include a description and explanation of the different types of decontamination that might be employed at a hazardous material incident. When and where would you set up and man a decontamination unit at an incident?
2) Review and discuss the staff positions under the Incident Commander (IC) which help manage the HAZMAT site. Define “Span of Control” and discuss why is it important to an Incident Commander (IC).
