Assignment 4: Creating by watching a video and composing an objective observation of a child in the video

Watch the linked video on you tube of a group time for young children. You can pick one of two children I list here:

1. Boy in the short sleeve, light blue shirt with orange pants. (Jack)
2. Girl in pink, short sleeve shirt and flower pants. (Rose)

Watch the video for 2:15 minutes with focus on either one of those two children. Write a narrative account of the child you picked during this group time using the names I gave above. Keep the observation objective at all times. Just write the facts. Write at least a half of a page, single spaced document and attach it in “my assignments” on moodle under  “video observation”.  Worth 40 points. (1 point off for each time I see ‘opinion’ in your observation).

Journal Entry

In your journal write about your thoughts on how it feels to be “tested”. What if you were not taking test in the comfort of your own home in this course? Would that be harder or the same? Do you remember testing growing up in school? How did you feel with the outcomes of most tests? Did you feel that it was a true picture of your abilities? Did you feel that your comfort levels within testing affected how you tested? Discuss other aspects of testing and how it affects people. Do you think standardized testing is useful or not? Should it be the only determining factor for children moving up grades? Post this under “testing” in journals on moodle.  Write at least 25 lines for this journal. Worth 25 points.
