Develop empirical model on research topic

Develop empirical model on research topic
Develop an empirical model based on the theory that will use the data you have selected to accomplish your research objectives, provide specific detail about the initial (and alternative) model(s), review and refine your hypotheses as appropriate, and identify the quantitative tools you will use to analyze the data (1-4 double spaced pages)
This is the final step in developing a plan for an important research study. You have your topic, you reviewed the recent scholarly literature relevant to your topic, you know the economic theory that will provide the foundation for your study, and you know where to get the data you will need. Now you will move from abstract theory and general model to a specific empirical model you will use to analyze the data and accomplish your research objectives.
Consider how you will specify the model. Will you use a linear-in-variables specification? Or will you specify a quadratic model or a logarithmic model? How did previous researchers specify their empirical models on related topics? How will you build in a scientific way upon what they did?
Review the hypotheses you developed in Assignment 3 and refine or make them more specific as needed to permit testing with your empirical model.
What quantitative tools will you use to analyze the data? If you are using statistical procedures and your data are cross-sectional, what important econometric issues will you need to examine to assure your results are unbiased and reliable? What issues will you need to address if you are using time-series data? If you will use panel data (i.e., time series of cross sections), visit with one of the instructors for guidance.
