Content Analysis of Commercials Custom Essay

In this assignment you will analyze two commercials, paying particular attention to the portrayal of characters

in the commercials and the messages that the commercials convey to the audience. In doing so, you will address

    the following sections:

1- Provide a description of the commercials along with an observation of the characters in terms of race, class,

    gender, sexuality, body size, etc.
2- Apply reflection theory to discuss how the commercial’s product that they are advertising and the portrayal of

characters in the commercials reflect the values and trends of popular culture and society at large.
3- State the preferred reading of media text to a particular character in the commercial and discuss how

different readings of media text (i.e., dominant reading, negotiated reading, and oppositional reading) would

interpret the portrayal of that character.
4- Touch upon the implications of the portrayal of characters in the commercial in terms of stereotypes and how

it socializes viewers about or reinforce certain beliefs, norms, and values in U.S. society.
5- Provide your own specific textual reading pf the portrayal of the particular character in the commercials

(from section 3) as well as how your family would interpret the media text of that character.

Be sure to address all FIVE sections, as the professor will be looking for these sections when grading the paper.

Also, make sure to define key concepts throughout your paper. For example, when discussing reflection theory, be

sure to define the theory first. For the paper, you will analyze two of the following commercials:

    Go Daddy:Perfect Match (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-SH9a_Cdcs)

    Miller Lite: Man Card (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IixigYbcm_s)

I need this paper back by Monday evening so I can revise it and make sure it’s ok. Also, I will upload some

powerpoint presentations regarding the material that the professor has covered in class so that the writer has an

idea of how he expects from us.
