Thomas More suffered death rather than betray his conscience. Draw on each of these examples of persons who sacrifice health and even life itself rather than betray their deepest convictions. What provokes these people of conscience to act at such great cost? Why couldn’t they simply pretend to accept the beliefs and systems that others pretended sometimes to embrace?
