Directions: Reflect on the concept of health law in professional nursing practice. The assignment should be typed, double spaced, and no more than 2 pages.

The reflection paper must discuss the following points:

• Nursing is a profession of responsibility and accountability. What are some of the responsibilities that you now have as a nursing student? Are these responsibilities what you expected before starting the program? How are you accountable for patient care as a student?

• Patient rights are an important part of health law. Choose one of the laws or regulations discussed in class and indicate how the law or regulation might affect your practice? Be sure to cite a creditable source for your information. Did you think you would have this much responsibility? How will you educate patients about the laws designed to protect their rights?

• Think of a patient protection law that is needed? What would be your suggestion?
