Scenario:To produce a report on investment in equities. The business is WHITBREAD PLC, which is quoted on the UK stock exchange.We have £10,000 to invest,and need to refer to the financial press and company accounts to decide which company to invest in.Then analyse company’s performance over the last year to make a final decision whether to invest or not.
Content:1)Introduction-This will be a general introduction to the company,and should state why we initially think this would be a wise investment. This should be based on economic climate and the nature of the business,should also include some comparison to the sector as a whole.
2)Findings-look at the financial press for the last month and analyse the movement in the shares for the company.The dividend history tables for the last two years and comment on the movement in the dividend.Calculation of ratios from the latest Company Accounts. This should include financial ratios, investment ratios and risk ratios.Analyse the ratio results,and also show all of the figures: dividend tables, company accounts, ratio formula and calculations. Small amounts of data and graphs may be included in the body of the report. Larger amounts such as company accounts should be presented as an appendix at the end.
3)Conclusion-A final decision, with reasons based on the findings, whether are we going to invest in this company or not.
