Current Event Analysis Requirements – to be taken from an online news article (not more than one-year old from the date it is submitted) dealing with “American government” appearing in a newswebsite (i.e. New York Times, MSNBC, Fox-news.com, News.yahoo.com, CNN.com, etc.,) posted (submitted)
(Citation, Summary, Discussion, and References) followed by an attached Word doc copy of the article all in the following format:

1.Summary – should be a summary of the article in the student’s own words normally in fewer words than the article itself and the student’s discussion.

2.Discussion (evidence of critical thinking) – narrative discussion including: (1) the student’s analysis as to the article’s significance, relevance and relationship to the course, (2) supported by at least four (4) in-text reference citations to pages in the course text, etc. and (3) in no less than 200 words. The in-text reference citation required is a modified version of the APA author-date citation system modified by including the relevant page number. For example, in the case where you are referencing let’s say page 400 in the course text then your citation would typically come at the end of the sentence (or phrase being referenced) but before the period (or comma, semicolon, etc.) and begin with a parenthesis followed by the author’s surname, date of publication, and the page number(s) and then the closing parenthesis, and then the period like so = (Losco & Baker, 2013, p. 400).

    4.Attached copy of the article

The text I am using is AM GOV
    Author is Losco Baker.2013-2014
This is just a suggestion but for the support of the course text as it relate to the article. I think you could relate this to the Amendments especially the Eight Amendment on page 85 of the course text. It talks about Cruel and unusual punishment.
